MEET THE ARTISTS:
WHERE DID YOU GROW UP: I grew up in Madrid, Spain.
WHEN DID YOU FIRST BECOME INTERESTED IN ILLUSTRATION + DESIGN: I started becoming interested in graphics when I was a teenager - I used to look at album covers, band t-shirts, band merch, and club logos. In Spain there is not a big culture around design and illustration; things might be changing now. But I wasn’t fully aware of what design was about until I started a graphic design degree in Madrid. I went to Paris as an exchange student for the last year of my studies and the city definitely opened my eyes - also there was a nice independent illustration gallery next to my house called “The Lazy Dog” that were bringing great illustrators and artists that showed me I could make a living out of illustration.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIECE THAT YOU’VE CREATED: I really like one of the last murals I painted this summer in London inspired by the heat wave.
IF YOU WEREN'T AN ARTIST WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING INSTEAD: I think I’d be a DJ, producer or music artist. I really love music, it has always been part of my life. I play synths in my free time just for fun, and I find the creative process very similar when compared to making art.
WHAT SONG GETS STUCK IN YOUR HEAD MOST OFTEN: Ozzie & Mylee - “Pray For The Sunshine” charges me with positive vibes in the morning.
WHAT IS YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL: You can tell looking at my work that it is a croc
IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE FOOD FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE: That would be so sad… I’d say salmon poke just to name one, but there is so much good food out there.
WHAT IS THE ONE ITEM OF CLOTHING THAT YOU WEAR MOST OFTEN: Black cap and a ninja pin.
WHAT WOULD THE TITLE OF YOUR AUTOBIOGRAPHY BE: Never Ending Research
WHAT IS THE HARDEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE: I guess come to the point where I am now! It’s been a wild ride!
WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU LAUGHED SO HARD IT HURT: Last ride at Cyclone in Coney Island.
WHAT IS YOUR SECRET TALENT: Finding rare books, zines, pins, tees, objects.
WHAT IS THE STRANGEST THING IN YOUR REFRIGERATOR: The strangest thing is that it is empty :-(
